Fix a roadside flat tire

Safety first

Stop riding immediately on a flat tire.

Power off and remove the battery before wheel work.

Symptoms

Tire loses pressure
Bike feels unstable
Visible puncture or embedded object

Possible causes

Sharp debris
Pinch puncture
Valve damage

Follow in order

Repair steps

Move to safety

Stop away from traffic, power off, and stabilize the bike.

Never repair beside moving traffic.

Find the puncture

Inspect the tread and remove sharp debris only after noting its position.

Wear gloves around glass or metal.

Repair or replace the tube

Release one tire bead with plastic levers, patch or replace the tube, and lightly inflate it.

Do not pinch the tube with a lever.

Reseat and inflate

Work the bead evenly into the rim, confirm the valve is straight, and inflate to the tire’s marked range.

Do not exceed the sidewall maximum.

Verify the repair
